[svccridesupdate] *Snowshill Manor All Day Ride*

Just a brief résumé. I suppose a ride with a difference, where there was a set location to visit and perusal 1. Five of us on the ride. All of average to above average levels of cycling fitness. 2. Distance, circa 75 miles 3. The whole trip took 11 hrs. 4. Not an easy ride with over 6000ft of climbing. 5. We stopped a lot to chat, refresh and refuel! 6. On request there was a shorter route of 20 odd miles on offer, but no one took it up. Because of the RV point at Notgrove hub, this made it quite a long AM ride for those doing the longer ride, with no mid morning break😞 So if we were to do it again, or a similar venture, then I would recommend: 1. Only offer one route. 2. Start earlier 3. Bring lights 4. Possible do it mid summer, longer days 5. Bring some additional snacks 6. I need to be a bit more pedantic when drawing up the route on RWGPS. As in a few places it wasn’t accurate, which my navigation device didn’t like when I went off route. Had to end the ride on my Wahoo and start it again, which came up on Stava as rather disjointed, but really it was only a minor hiccup! 7. Maybe do a recce to work out more accurate timings
In Summary: From my point of view. Apart from the above. I thought it went well. A very pleasant group to cycle with. There was the odd cry ‘are we nearly there’ 😂Reminded of my daughter as a child, who hated travelling😂. A hugely interesting location to visit, as was the previous owner, Charles Wade. Think we should focus on doing more of these type of rides.
Mens sana in corpore sano🤔
