You may remember last year a few of us attended and met some of the residents at Upton Mill Carer Home, Tetbury. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it this year.
I asked Correna (not sure her role) if there were any ex servicemen here? she said ‘there was, an ex Trooper in The Life Guards. I met and chatted to Patrick for well over half an hour. Even though there was over a 20 year gap in our service time, we knew many who we both served with, agreeing, some were good, others not so good! But we laughed and agreed, they were good times. I did return a couple of times, but mentally and physically he was very frail.
I plan to attend Patrick’s funeral.

I met Patrick a couple of times at his Nursing Home in Tetbury. A delightful man serving with RCM York and LtCol Jackson, then both LCoH’s.
He had so many fond memories of his time in The Life Guards.
I’ll try to attend his funeral.

Dear Association Members,
It is with great sadness that I report that 22205877 Trooper Patrick David Warner passed away on 22nd July 2026, aged 92.
Patrick served in The Life Guards from 1952 to 1957. He completed two years in the Mounted Regiment, carrying out ceremonial duties, before spending his final three years with The Life Guards Armoured Regiment.
Patrick’s funeral will take place on Thursday, 6th August 2026, at 11:00 am at:
St John the Baptist Church Church Lane Shipton Moyne Tetbury Gloucestershire GL8 8PW
Following the service, a reception will be held at:
The Royal Oak Cirencester Road Tetbury Gloucestershire GL8 8EY
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Patrick’s family and friends at this difficult time.
