Dear Stroud Valleys Cycle Club,
I hope you are well. My name is Sully and I work for Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC), the primary air ambulance charity serving Stroud and the surrounding areas.
I am getting in touch to ask whether you would be willing to share details of an upcoming cycling event with your members and wider cycling community. Wotton Lions are organising ‘Ride Over the Edge’ on Sunday 27th September, with at least 50% of proceeds being raised in support of GWAAC. Ride Over the Edge 2026 is a non-competitive cycling sportive, registered with British Cycling and organised in line with their Guidelines for Non-Competitive Events and I’ve copied all the details below of the event.
*Ride Over the Edge **🚴♂️*
*📍 Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire **📅 Sunday 27th September 2026*
*The event offers three fully supported, all-road routes:*
– *50km* – *50 miles* – *100 miles*
*Entry is £35, regardless of the distance chosen. Riders can expect GPS routes, support throughout the event and some challenging Cotswold climbs, as well as some fantastic scenery. The event is non-competitive and is designed to provide an enjoyable day out for riders of all abilities. Participants can enter individually or as part of a group, making it a great opportunity to get together with fellow cyclists while supporting a local charity.*
*Further details and registration are available here: Ride Over the Edge – Wotton Lions <www.wottonlions.org/cycle/?utm_source=chatgpt.com>*
I would be extremely grateful if you could circulate the information among your members and, where appropriate, encourage them to share it with other cyclists, friends and family who may be interested. In 2025, GWAAC responded to 55 lifesaving callouts in Stroud, and the money raised through this ride will directly support our lifesaving work, helping us to be there for people in the local community when they need us most and making Stroud and the surrounding area a safer place for everyone.
Thank you very much for your support in helping us spread the word. If you have any questions about the event or GWAAC or would ever like to get involved with the charity in the future, then please do not hesitate to get in touch with me – I would love to hear from you!
Best wishes,
Sully
