[svccridesupdate] Riding in hot weather

Good afternoon,
By sheer coincidence I have just read the very good attached article in my Audax UK magazine on the topical subject of riding in hot weather and the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
The points which struck me were:
1. Being over the age of 65 is one of the risk factors which make heat exhaustion worse 2. Larger riders cool less well 3. Cramp is commonly the first sign of heat exhaustion and you should stop cycling 4. Heat exhaustion is a serious condition and requires immediate action, as set out in the article 5. Heat stroke can result in death (about 25%) and permanent organ damage and is a 999 emergency
As the article explains, you can ride in hot weather but you need to take the appropriate steps to reduce the risk of harm.
With best wishes,
Steve
