[svccridesupdate] Newent Loop Drive To Sunday 30 Aug 26

Once again, it’s one of those drive/cycle to routes. The Newent Loop, some of us have done it over the last couple of years, normally on a Tuesday.
Location: Meet at Ashleworth Hub, Its a village shop/café come post office. Please do not use (if driving) the parking bays outside the Hub, as these are regularly used by the locals. There is ample parking on the nearby roads and streets.
Timings: Can you please be there for 10.00 hrs, where we’ll start the morning off with a coffee break.
Travel: Ashleworth is about 17 miles from the centre of Stroud, heading North, going via Gloucester and Maisemore. The post code is GL19 4JG. The map (OS) grid reference 813256.
Might be worth considering car sharing. I plan to cycle there, would anyone else like to join me? If so, I’ll arrange a RV point. This will be about 66 miles.
The Route: The Newent Loop, is roughly 33 miles, it has an easy elevation, so as you might say, it’s an ‘ideal short and easy club ride’! Starting and finishing by the Hub. Please refer to RWGPS, roughly this will be our direction of travel, going in an anti-clockwise direction. Am planning on visiting certain locations of historical interest.
Vittles: There are no obvious café’s on route, apart from Newent, at this stage we are not that far from the finishing line, so am proposing that we have a light lunch at Ashleworth…..at the end of the ride, then head home.

Weather: Welcome to a proper English summer! Cloudy, sunny spells in the morning, possibly heavy showers in the afternoon , however the meteorology people often get it so wrong!!
