Myself, Malcolm and Gwyn attended a meeting with Simon Opher the MP for
Stroud on the 17th September.
We had a discussion about cycling in general in the Stroud area and road
safety for cyclists which included:
Issues with parked cars. [cars parking over white line cycle lanes].
Speeding and close passes.
Overgrown vegetation on roads, cycle tracks and footpaths.
Current cycle route issues and what the future holds for cycle paths and
routes in our area [investment and funding].

Simon's response was:
He would set up a forum/meetings to include all local cycling groups &
clubs, police, councils, sustran, employers and other interested
parties, to discuss all these issues further.
Also he confirmed he would continue supporting all cyclists and would
also continue support for new cycle routes in Gloucestershire. He
mentioned cycle paths/routes for Dursley, Wotton Under Edge and the A419
London Road.
Before he was elected the MP for Stroud he was involved in the creation
of the Dursley Greenway Cycle Route.

We felt that the meeting went reasonably well. I will give him some time
to set up the forum/meetings.
If I hear nothing more I will contact him via his secretary for an update.

Regards

John
