[svccridesupdate] July Events

July is nearly here and there are some exciting events that are happening in addition to our usual programme of rides.

On Saturday 1st July there is a ride all the way round the Avon Cycle Way.
Meet in Wickwar at the little car park off Turnpike Gate (for those of you with What 3 Words ///hologram.dupe.sugar) at 9am. The route is about 88 miles in total with 1250m of climbing. Here's a link: Avon Cycle Way Clockwise
It is a varied and, at times, challenging route which includes part of the Bristol to Bath Cycle Path, a slight detour to a stone circle in Stanton Drew, Chew Valley Lake, Bristol Airport, Clevedon, the Avonmouth Bridge, Blaise Castle before returning across more familiar territory through Thornbury and back to Wickwar. There is a pub in Wickwar – the Fox and Maple – where you can have a well earned drink and maybe something to eat at the end! If you're intending to come and haven't let me know yet then send an email to clarefrgsmith@gmail.com
Also get in touch if you have any questions.
On Saturday 15th July, after the success of last year's event, we are holding another Treasure Hunt. This year Viv Culley – one of last year's winners – and Jon Lunn are our organisers. It starts and ends at the Crown Inn in Frampton Mansell. The route is about 18 miles and, in teams of two, you have to find the answers to all the questions and get back to the start as quickly as possible. There is a small prize for the winning team!  Details such as the start time will be finalised soon. If you want to take part, send a message to this email address. If you already have a team of two that's great but we can always pair people up on the day.
Regards

Stroud Valleys Cycling Club
