[svccridesupdate] Fwd: Stroud Valleys Cycling Club “Free places at Bike Cotswold event on 30th August”
Afternoon everyone
Please see the email I am forwarding with information about the Bike Cotswold event on 30th August. As explained in the email “*We [being the Door Youth Project] are looking for two keen cyclists to take up the complimentary places we’ve been offered and raise funds to help us continue walking alongside young people in the Stroud District and South Cotswolds*.”
So it seems that you would be expected to raise funds for the Door Youth Project in return for having the complimentary place (although there is clearly limited time for this, so I am guessing that expectations will not be very high!) – here is a link to their website: thedoor.org.uk
If you (or you and one other, teaming up together) are interested in taking up this offer then you should contact the Door as instructed at the end of the email. If you do respond to say you would like to participate then I suggest that you send a quick “reply to all” email by way of reply to this email so that we all know that one (or two) SVCC members have already taken up the offer (this will avoid others replying subsequently seeking to get one of the complimentary places).
More information about the event can be found via the following link Bike Cotswold | Sun 30 Aug 2026 — Iconic Cycling Events <www.iconiccyclingevents.co.uk/bikecotswold> . Another option could be for two of you to take up the complimentary places together with others who pay to enter the event via the event website.
Over to you if you are interested!

Message Body: Hi
I’m getting in touch from The Door Youth Project to let you know we’ve been offered two free places for the new Bike Cotswold cycling event, taking place on Sunday 30 August 2026 at Westonbirt School.
The event is being organised by Cotswold Collective in partnership with Iconic Cycling Events, the team behind major cycling events including Bike Oxford and Bike Bath. Bike Cotswold offers cyclists a choice of three scenic routes, approximately 30, 47 and 75 miles, taking riders through the beautiful Cotswolds. All routes will be fully marked, with on-course support provided throughout.
We are looking for two keen cyclists to take up the complimentary places we’ve been offered and raise funds to help us continue walking alongside young people in the Stroud District and South Cotswolds.
The event is expected to attract hundreds of cyclists, creating a fantastic opportunity for riders to take on a personal challenge while making a difference to a cause close to home.
For more information about the event, visit Bike Cotswold.
Time is tight, so anyone interested in taking one of the two spaces should contact The Door by 1pm on Tuesday 25th August. They can do this by calling 01453 756745 or emailing info@thedoor.org.uk
Kind regards Jill thedoor.org.uk
