[svccridesupdate] Cycle Camping Friday 16th – Saturday 17th August
Dear all,
Just to add to Clare’s email.
You are most welcome to join me on the off road route (OR), either for the whole period or just one of the days, even if you don’t want to sleep under the stars. If you did, then I would be happy to share my basic bivouac shelter with you..as long as you don’t snore😉.
The route, refer to RWGPS, is about 50/50 tarmac and rough terrain. Some of it is tough going, you definitely need a mountain bike. It’s about 3500ft of climbing.
I love this OR route as it gives a real sense of remoteness in this beautiful part of the Cotswolds
Whatever, it would be great if you wanted to join us for an el fresco supper, or joint us in the pub later. I may even bring my travel scrabble😳
Really, I want to start from my home in Pitchcombe, or certainly near to there, as that will be my direction of travel. Happy to provide you with some light refreshments before departure.
I’ve got quite a bit of camping kit that I’m prepared to lend out:
Smallish tent
Sleeping mats
Bivie bag
Cooker and Gaz cylinders
Cooking pot
Let me know if you are interested?
Yours,
Paul R

Hi everyoneThe SVCC Cycle Camping trip is fast approaching and the weather forecast at the moment is looking fairly good – although I realise it could all change by then.If there is anyone who suddenly has an urge to join us, just let either Paul or me know – it’s not too late!Alternatively you might like to join us for the ride to the campsite and then head off home or meet us on Saturday morning at the Green Dragon, Cowley and cycle back with us.If you would like to join the on-road ride, we are meeting at Dudbridge at 12:30pm on Friday 16th. We will stop at the Dragonfly Cafe, Oaksey and expect to reach the Green Dragon at Cowley by about half past 4 after 35 miles. You can then make your own way home – the route below is another 12 miles back to Stroud. Here’s a link to the route: Cowley Camping On Road version 2Another possibility would be to meet us at the Green Dragon at Cowley on Saturday morning at about 10am for a coffee and then to cycle back with us. We will be fairly heavily laden and we will be going at a slow pace, so do be patient with us.Or you might like to join Paul for an off-road ride. Here’s a link to his route: Cycle / Camping 16th – 17th Aug 24 Either meet him at 1pm at Pitchcombe on Friday for the outward ride or meet us at about 10am at the Green Dragon on Saturday morning. If any of these possibilities appeal, just get in touch.ThanksClare
