[svccridesupdate] Club Visit to Mallorca

Hi everyone

I have been investigating the possibility of a club visit to Mallorca in October.

I tried to get in touch with Audrey Clayton from Mallorca Wheels but without success so I have now contacted the Hotel Ferrero Janeiro directly in Can Picafort and they have given me some details about costs etc.

Double Room – based on 2 people sharing –  € 46,49 per person per night for 1.10.23 – 13.10.23

                                                                                        € 44,47 per person per night for 14.10.23 – 28.10.23

Double Room – single occupancy                       € 71,18 per person per night for 1.10.23 – 13.10.23

                                                                                        € 67,95  per person per night for 14.10.23 – 28.10.23

There are also some options for a sea view or a pool view.  There is a minimum stay of 6 nights.

Breakfast is included in the price. In the past we have also had half board which includes an evening meal and that is an additional 11 euros a day.

So 6 nights with half board at the beginning of October sharing a double room works out at about €350 or just under £300. If you want a room to yourself it’s just under €500 or about £430.

Of course you may want to stay for longer than 6 nights. Non-cycling friends, partners, significant others would of course be very welcome to come if they want to.  Also feel free to share this with other local cycling groups such as the Stonehouse Wheelers and the Stroud Spinderellas. More details about the hotel can be found at https://www.ferrerhotels.com/en/ferrer-janeiro-hotel-spa/

You can either bring your own bike or you could hire a bike:

https://www.ditsches-bikeworld.com/englisch/roadbikerenting/ – Just near the hotel, a range of road bikes, e-bikes etc.

We have also used https://www.huerzeler.com/en in the past. They are also in Can Picafort but slightly further away.

Then of course you have to add the cost of flights, travel insurance and the cost of transfer from the airport. I have used the Hoppa bus in the past which is relatively cheap but takes about 90 minutes. However if you’re bringing a bike you’ll need to use a taxi and, if there is a group of us arriving on the same plane, a shared taxi would not work be too expensive.

If you are still interested and feel ready to start making some firmer plans, reply to this email with answers to these questions by Monday 10th July:

How many nights do you intend to stay?

What dates in October are best for you?

How many people?

If just you, are you happy to share with someone else from the club or do you want single occupancy?

Regards
Clare Smith,  Secretary

Stroud Valleys Cycling Club
