[svccridesupdate] Celebration of Christmas

I am delighted to report that todays Stroud Valleys Cycling Club Celebration of Christmas was a resounding success.
In a change to our traditional Carol Service, this year saw the inclusion of a band complete with choir which sang some popular Winter and Christmas Songs along with traditional Carols. The Christian service was taken by Revd. Mathew Page, a fellow cyclist.
The Celebration of Christmas was opened up to include members of the public but, in spite of a low response, a good number of cyclists from various groups enjoyed our upbeat offering this year. My personal thanks go to everyone who contributed their time and energy to put this event on, including SVCC Committee for their inspiration and organisation, everyone who helped with the band with special thanks to our leader Mike Weaver, the choir, providers of food and drink and the “kitchen helpers” who laid out the tables, chairs and refreshments and cleared up afterwards. Particular thanks go to Elaine Venning for ensuring that St Mathews Church and Hall kept us warm on a cold and windy day. Feedback from those who attended was very positive.
Well done to you all and Happy Christmas,
Malcolm Chairman, SVCC
