[svccridesupdate] Avon Cycle Way Ride, Cycle Camping Weekend and Mallorca in October

There are some upcoming events this summer and autumn that we are planning, in addition to our usual programme of rides, and we need to find out if you are interested in taking part.

1. Avon Cycle Way Ride on Saturday 1st July starting at 9am from Wickwar. We are going clockwise this year – a distance of 88 miles in total. There is parking in Wickwar or if you want a real challenge you could cycle from home! If you are interested or have any further questions get in touch by email  clarefrgsmith@gmail.com by Sunday 25th June. There are also more details of the route on the Events page on our website.

2. Cycle Camping Weekend on  Saturday 12th and  Sunday 13th August. There is an off-road or an on-road route – more details on the Events page.  The campsite at Bubbs Hill near Cowley needs to know the number of campers for the Saturday night as soon as possible. Please let us know if you are intending to come using this email address by Saturday 10th June at the latest. 

3. Mallorca in October: We are hoping to organise a club visit to Ca'n Picafort on Mallorca in early October. The weather is still mainly warm and sunny at that time of year and perfect for cycling. We use “Mallorca Wheels” and they have a very reasonably priced deal with two of the local hotels. You can either hire a bike there or take your own bike if you prefer. At the moment we are just finding out about who is interested so please get in touch by email if you are. 

There is also the Treasure Hunt on Saturday 15th July – more details to follow. 

Finally I noticed there is no Sunday ride on the rides list for 4th June and I don't think any of our regular ride leaders are able to lead one. There will be tea and cakes at Hill Village Hall run by the Hill WI from 12pm – 1pm and 2pm – 5pm – cash only.  You could always do your own ride there as the cakes are fantastic and it looks like it's going to be a perfect day for a bike ride.
