[svccridesupdate] Tomorrow’s ride
The ride for tomorrow shown on the Rides List is a ride to Malmesbury (Jackdaw’s Café for lunch).
The weather forecast suggests that it will be dry but very cold. With our usual 11am start time the sun should help alleviate ice concerns but I have varied much of the route I had been planning in order to stick to more major roads (on the basis that they should have been gritted). The route is a little shorter than originally planned (at 33 miles) and now goes through Tetbury, which also allows us to choose to shorten the ride and stop for a coffee / lunch break in Tetbury rather than carrying on to Malmesbury (if we decide that fingers and toes need defrosting at that stage).
The new route is: Nailsworth – Avening – Tetbury – Malmesbury – Long Newton – Cherington – past Jolly Nice – Minchinhampton – find your own way back. Details are provided via the following link:
ridewithgps.com/routes/53659903 (33 miles – 1,560 feet of ascent)
There are some smaller roads on the way back but I have tried to avoid some more risky routes and hopefully the ice risk will be further reduced by that time of day (and we can change the route if conditions dictate).
Usual start time of 11am at Dudbridge. If you plan to join along the route, it would help if you could let me know (e.g. Nailsworth or Avening are possible joining points).
Hope to see some of you tomorrow (well layered up!).
