Hi Paul,
Sounds great.
My only skiing experience I have is in 1978 with the school, sounds posh but I went to Archway we didn’t go to the Swiss Alps we went to Matson!.
Please pencil me in for this one.
Catch up tomorrow if you are cycling.
Cheers,
Chris.

Subject: [svccridesupdate] SVCC Proposed Nordic Ski Trip Norway 28 Feb – 7 Mar 26
Dear all,
I’m very much am looking forward to the warmer summer months, but equally looking ahead to going back to Norway in 2026.
Most of you are aware, I was there in Feb, teaching youngsters how to Nordic/x country ski, which was a great success and then back a week later with an ex army colleague of mine, which wasn’t a success!
I’m planning to repeat these trips again next year. But this time am going to stay in Norway, so will be there by myself for a week. At this stage I’m sounding out club members, asking if you would like to join me for that week, where hopefully I will teach you how to Nordic ski.
Outline plan. Basically it will be very flexible. But hopefully run it similarly to the school group (age 14!) that I’ve had the previous week:
3/4 days into to Nordic skiing
2/3 day expedition into the mountain, staying in basic mountain huts. We may even snow hole, If that is something you would like to try?
Much will depend on what you want to do.
Location. Would be based in the small hamlet of Bykle and staying in the hotel of the same name. It’s about 118 miles N of Kristiansand. No mod cons, but it’s warm and comfortable And very friendly staff.
Clothing and equipment. I can provide the skis, sticks and boots. You will need a rucksack, sleeping bag, suitable warm clothing. It was -25 when I was there in Feb. But we can discuss all of this later.
Now for the painful bit..cost! Based on this years prices.
Flights Flying from Bristol to Kristiansand via Amsterdam.
£300 return flight
Hotel £630 that’s for 7 nights. This includes 3 meals.
Return bus journey Kristiansand to Bykle £30
Taxi(return) from/tonairport to bus terminal K’sands £100 That can be shared
Overall the total cost should be circa £1000.00 – £1300.00. The good news is that the £ is quite strong against the Norwegian Kroner.
As it stands there will be no cost for skiing equipment. An ex army friend of mine is providing all of that. And of course I don’t expect payment!
Your assistance. I will be in Norway, so I will expect you to.
Book your own flights. Need to be done well in advance.
Book a taxi airport to bus terminal K’sand. Can be done on the day.
Book bus to Bykle
Maybe someone would like to oversee this part of the trip?
I can help you with some of this. Of course I will arrange accommodation and all the other bits a pieces when in Norway.
Size of party. A minimum of 4, maximum of 6 persons
You are all very fit, so that won’t be a problem, its coming to term with Nordic skiing techniques, but I can help you with that.
Let me know if you are interested, I will then set up a WhatsApp group.
I will now send some photos on our SVCC WhatsApp group. It will either whet your appetite or scare the living daylights out of..but it shouldn’t, it will be great fun, spectacular scenery..weather permitting!
Dates are not set in concrete, they may change slightly, maybe by a day or two.
Please get back to me if you have any questions.
Kind regards,
Paul
