[svccridesupdate] Reminder about Cycling UK Membership

Hello everyone

This is just a quick reminder that we ask all club riders to be members of Cycling UK (with the exception of anyone who wants to try us out, in which case you can have up to 3 trial rides).

This ensures that all our riders have third party insurance (which is highly desirable) as well as getting the other benefits of individual membership of Cycling UK.

I should also mention that the club, as a member group of Cycling UK, gets an annual financial contribution from Cycling UK (which goes a long way towards paying our expenses) and organiser’s liability insurance (to cover the club and its ride leaders). Cycling UK, in return, requires member groups to have a rule that all our riders take out individual membership.

From what we can see (via a member group section of the Cycling UK website) it appears that there are a few people who have been riding with us for more than 3 rides who may not be Cycling UK members. It is possible that the information we can see is not accurate in this regard, but, if you have overlooked becoming a member, we would very much appreciate you now making arrangements to take out an individual membership – please go to: www.cyclinguk.org/join-cycling-uk-today

If anyone has any questions or concerns about this, please feel free to get in touch.

Thanks for your cooperation with this and sorry to bother the vast majority of you who are joined up members of Cycling UK.
