[svccridesupdate] club website
Evening all,
I designed the website about 8 years ago so it is time to review and revise it. I used the following criteria for the design and will use them again for a new design:
- Apart for the hosting costs which cannot be avoided, the other tools such as the website software and email list software should be free
- WordPress should be used for the website software since it is widely used and that should make it easier to find someone to look after it
- Free pre-built modules should be used rather than bespoke programming to facilitate maintenance (e.g. module for how to contact the committee)
My thoughts are below and based around a revised menu but I would like your thoughts as well on things that are missing ,things that are no longer needed etc. I am particularly interested in your views on two matters:
- I used a colour scheme of orange on black to reflect the club colours. I still quite like it. Should we stick with it?
- Notwithstanding our club rules regarding photos and videos, the latter are powerful tools in promoting any type of club and would really benefit from someone organising them. Anyone interested in this role and taking it on would need to logon to the website and work with me using our chosen tools for organising and displaying them.
So all of this, including conflicting views will go into the mix and then I will produce a new draft version for the committee to approve.
Here is my thoughts on a new menu structure, the contents of the “description of the club” page are vital in attracting new members:
