[svccridesupdate] AGM information

I confirm that this year we will be holding the Stroud Valleys Cycling Club AGM on Saturday 18th April at 3:30pm.

The location is the same as in recent years, namely Cainscross Parish Council Hall, the Pavilion in Victory Park, Stroud GL5 4JE. There is parking nearby for those who need to come by car.

Following the AGM there will be teas and coffees and cakes / biscuits and a chance to have a chat with other members of the club. Please bring biscuits / cakes / other appropriate food to share.

We are also planning to have the club’s existing stock of club kit at the AGM for sale before and after the formal part of the AGM. This will be a chance to buy club kit at prices which are less than the current prices charged by Kalas Cycling (who produce our club kit). I plan to send out a note of prices before the AGM.

If you are unable to make the AGM, please feel free to email me your apologies.

Attendance at the AGM is open to all Cycling UK members on presentation of their own valid membership card (affiliated members can also attend but they may not vote or stand for office). So please remember to bring your Cycling UK membership card. (These requirements are set by Cycling UK).

The AGM will give you a chance to meet the members of the committee and discuss your views on how the club is run and plans for the future.

If you have any motions that you would like discussed at the meeting, please send them to me by email at this email address as soon as possible (but in any event at least seven days before the meeting).

This year two long standing members of the committee have decided to stand down. These are:

Malcolm Carruthers (standing down as Chairman and as a committee member).

Clare Smith (as committee member – you will recall that Clare resigned as Secretary at last year’s AGM, when we said our thanks to her in that regard).

I am pleased to be able to tell you that Steve Brawley will be standing for election as Chairman. Steve has kindly agreed to take on this role for a period of up to 3 years (the aim being to have another Chairman in place within this period).

We are always looking for new members with new ideas to join the committee so why not put your name forward? The committee members are a friendly bunch and there aren’t too many meetings, so it’s not too big a commitment. Just get in touch if you are interested or talk to a committee member on a ride.

Finally, as I mentioned a while back, I confirm that we are expecting Sarah Mitchell, Chief Executive of Cycling UK, to attend the AGM and to say a few words.

The agenda for the meeting will follow in good time for the meeting.

Regards
Tom Daltry
