[svccridesupdate] Drive to start ride – Tuesday 2nd September – at 1pm
Hi Tom,I am planning on coming and could give someone a lift.AnneSent from my Galaxy ——– Original message ——–From: Tom Daltry <tom@daltry.net> Date: 27/08/2025 19:22 (GMT+00:00) To: svccridesupdate@googlegroups.com Subject: [svccridesupdate] Drive to start ride – Tuesday 2nd September – at 1pm This message provides advance notice of my drive to start ride, planned for next Tuesday, 2nd September. I am sending out information early in order to give you time to liaise with other riders about car sharing and also to find out who would like to join this ride (if uptake is not sufficient I would look to put together an alternative ride with the traditional Dudbridge start point). This is an adapted version of a ride we have done over the past two years – we go through some pretty villages and countryside and have some extensive views as we cross the Ridgeway, circumnavigating White Horse Hill. This new version also promises a view of The White Horse (which we did not previously get) as well as a new coffee stop location in Aldbourne at Time at the Forge. Please note the earlier than normal start time of 1pm (so that we are not too late getting home). Location of start of ride: Car park in Martens Road, Shrivenham (free parking). what3words location of car park is inferior.galloped.youthful Directions for start point: Heading south on A419 from Cirencester, take Shrivenham exit (on A420, turning left off A419). After about 3 miles turn right off A420 to Shrivenham. Keep going straight on into Shrivenham until you get to the left turn to Highworth – turn left here and then first left into Martens Road, where the car park is immediately on your left. (There is a height restriction on entry to the car park – if you have your bike on the roof of your car you will need to remove it before entering the car park or it will be removed for you!). Start time: 1pm. Please arrive in good time to be ready to start riding at 1pm. Ride details: 35 miles, medium paced, with a coffee stop at Time at the Forge, Aldbourne. A modest 1,549 feet / 472 meters of climbing. Route: Shrivenham – Woolstone – Uffington – Childrey – Lambourn – Aldbourne – Foxhill – Shrivenham For full details, please use following link: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/51830317 Please let me know by email before the end of Sunday if you plan to come. I will resend the details of the ride on Monday next week (hopefully confirming that it is going ahead). I look forward to hearing from those of you who would like to join the above ride.
