[svccridesupdate] Tuesday Rides

Hello everyone

At the AGM one of the motions we discussed was whether we should change the timing of summer Tuesday rides so that returning riders would not get caught up with rush hour traffic. At the moment, from October 1st to the start of BST, Tuesday rides start at 11am but from the start of BST to the end of September Tuesday rides start at 1:30pm. Many riders feel that this means that the end of the ride coincides with the rush hour in Stroud, a not very pleasant experience. The meeting decided that we needed to ask members who come on Tuesday rides for their thoughts before we make any changes.
There are 3 options:
1. To leave it as it is at the moment – 1:30pm start for Tuesday rides from beginning of April to the end of September with an afternoon coffee stop.
2. To start at 11am all year round with a lunch stop.
3. To start at 9:30am with a morning coffee stop.
Some of the issues raised were:
– Some people might work or have other responsibilities in the morning but can join an afternoon ride.
– Lunch stops are more expensive and it is sometimes difficult to find a venue that can accommodate the group or it might require the leader to book in advance.
– A 9:30am start might mean cycling through the morning rush hour for some.
What we would like you to do is, if you ride on Tuesdays, let us know which of the 3 options you prefer. You can either reply to this email or, if you are in the SVCC WhatsApp group, a poll will be appearing very soon that you can vote on. Please only respond once either by email or on WhatsApp.
Regards
